Embracing Faith

My Journey from Control to Spiritual Surrender

6/3/2024

Over the years, my spirituality has deepened to a point that exceeds what most of my family can comprehend. It’s not just a belief—it’s a deep knowing that everything happening in my life serves a purpose, often greater than I can immediately see.

In my early years of spiritual growth, I wrestled with surrender. I understood that there was a higher purpose, yet I insisted on clinging to control, building visions and plans with my human mind. I trusted external voices over my own inner guidance, as if their perspectives held more weight than my own.

The truth is, spirituality and faith don’t work like that. They require surrender—trusting the unseen and embracing the flow of life rather than resisting it. After seven long years of stubbornly holding on to “my way,” I finally burned everything I had created to the ground. That decision wasn’t easy, but it was necessary.

Looking back, I see that none of that time was wasted. Those years shaped me, teaching me invaluable lessons about myself and others. They molded me into the person I am today, someone who no longer fears starting over.

I don’t believe in regrets, and I don’t believe in failure. Every step I’ve taken—every perceived setback—was a stepping stone to where I stand now. Even the darkest moments brought clarity and growth, helping me see both sides of the coin. But I wasn’t always like this.

This journey has been one of trust and transformation, a continuous unfolding of self-awareness and connection to a higher power. It’s taught me that letting go doesn’t mean losing control; it means finding peace in knowing I don’t need it.
