Choosing Happiness

How I Feed My Soul And Embrace Life’s Adventures

7/9/2024

Can I ask you something?
Are you happy?
Like REALLY happy on a soul level.

💖 The kind of happy that is contagious and makes you shine from the inside.
💖 The kind of happy that has NOTHING to do with what’s happening around you.
💖 The kind of happy that gives you peace, even when you're simultaneously sad.

#Storytime

My cousin from Louisiana came to visit last week while she was up in Buffalo for the 4th of July.

I think this may have been the first time we’ve ever been alone together without kids or moms hovering nearby. It meant we could finally talk about ANYTHING without worrying about little ears overhearing.

Inevitably, we started talking about the mundaneness of everyday life—especially as moms. She made a comment about how my life seems filled with adventure and excitement.

🤣 I laughed.

My life?
I spend most of it working, driving, or momming. Sure, I go out and have fun every so often, but I’m not over here planning grand adventures like I dream about.

She countered by saying that my time out just seems more fun than most people's.

And that’s when it hit me.

It’s not about having more time away than anyone else.
It’s about the way I use my time—to feed my soul.

🤗 I’m HAPPY.
Genuinely. To the depths of my core, I am at complete and total peace.

That doesn’t mean I don’t wish for things to be different sometimes. I’m human—of course I do.
That doesn’t mean I don’t cry. If you know me, you know I cry—a LOT.

But I decided a long time ago that I want life to be an adventure.
So, I make it fun.

🦄 I take risks.
🦄 I want to learn everything about everyone I meet.
🦄 I’m done bonding over negativity—bring on the good! Let’s celebrate instead of commiserate.
🦄 I don’t care what you do or how you live your life, as long as it doesn’t harm anyone else.
🦄 I let go of grudges; they were taking up too much space in my heart.
🦄 I feel my feelings as they come, and I let them pass through me.
🦄 I choose happy amid chaos and sadness.
🦄 I choose me.

This is your reminder: You deserve to live a life you don’t hate.
So if you’re not already doing that, let’s change it!
