Why Do We Skip The Simple Acts of Self-Care?

12/18/2024

I can feel when my whole world is off.
When I stop doing the little things that fill my bucket the most, I somehow start skipping over them because they feel hard, make me feel guilty, or for any of the other 8,000 reasons I tell myself.

💛 Taking time to write with my morning coffee
💛 Hitting the trail for a hike
💛 45 minutes at the gym
💛 Turning off the screens and picking up my book before bed
💛 Drinking more water [and less coffee]

It’s almost like my brain is saying: You don’t REALLY want to feel better today, do you?

These are the things that calm my anxiety, ground my nerves, and always leave me better than I started, and yet they are the very first things I will pass up.

WHY is it so hard to do the simple things that take care of yourself sometimes?
